I stopped by Kings in the mood for Cajun food on a late Friday night. King’s is close by the Fashion Valley Mall across the way from the Lazy Dog restaurant and Gordon Biersch. They have an extensive sushi & fish menu that includes trout, mahi-mahi, sea bass, tuna, and swordfish prepared either blackened or grilled. I ended up ordering the sea bass because it’s been a very long time since I’ve had sea bass and ordered it with their whipped garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. Sea bass had to texture that was in between a mahi-mahi and a tilapia. The entire meal was very good. Other than having the option of blackened fish it didn’t have a lot of cajun options on their menu such as an ettouffee or gumbo. I would say this restaurant is more of a seafood restaurant rather than cajun. Overall it was very good. Be aware that the prices here are rather moderate to high with most entrees between $21 and $30 a piece, unless you go for lobster and it can go up from there.
